Cancer Center Medical Oncologists collaborate with other oncologists, community physicians in private practice and the primary care/specialty physicians at Sansum Clinic to create a coordinated and comprehensive approach to cancer care. Surgery is a key component in the care of patients living with cancer. Our trained surgeons specialize in various types of cancer including breast cancers and gastrointestinal (GI) cancers, and they provide comprehensive evaluation, treatment planning and surgical approaches to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients. The GI Cancer Program is a high-volume, pancreatic surgery program. The Breast Surgery Program treats breast cancer and breast diseases, including complications of lactation.
Nuclear Medicine plays a critical role in cancer diagnosis and treatment by capturing images that deliver vital information about the function of cells and major organs. This involves the use of radioactive materials to create images that allow clinicians to study the structure and measure the function of organs and to identify tumors, areas of infection or other disorders. Both physicians in this department are fellowship trained at world-class institutions.
Our Palliative Care and Advance Care Planning Program enables us to enhance the quality of life for all patients who are being treated for a serious illness. The Palliative Care team works to address patients’ physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs with individualized care plans that provide an extra layer of support for patients and their families
