Language Services
Sansum Clinic provides language assistance services at all patient care locations. These services include:
Language Assistance Interpreters
Patients with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) may receive language assistance services (interpreters), free of charge.
- Each California health insurance plan is equipped to provide interpreter services for their patients. It is not required that you use a health plan interpreter. Each health plan has an interpreter telephone access line which can be used for their members in the event that you require interpreter services.
- Health plans strongly discourage the use of family, friends, or minors as interpreters.
- Health plans will also translate documents which are important to accessing benefits, known as vital documents.
- Please let our scheduling or reception staff know if you would like these services and interpreter arrangements will be made at the time of scheduling your appointment. Ask your patient care representative if you would like translations of your vital documents.
Sign Language Interpreters
All patients with hearing impairments have the opportunity to request a sign-language interpreter for (free of charge) their visit to the clinic. Please let our scheduling or reception staff know if you would like these services and sign-language interpreter arrangements will be made at the time of scheduling your appointment. Sansum Clinic contracts with the Independent Living Resource Center to provide sign-language interpreters.
California Relay Service (CRS) TTY
California Relay Service is a federally mandated, state-run, telecommunications relay service, which provides full telephone accessibility to people who are deaf, hard of hearing or speech disabled.
