Dysport™

Prescription Dysport is an injection used to temporarily improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows in adults.

Though approved in the United States in April 2009, Dysport has a history of use in other countries since 1991. First approved outside the U.S. for aesthetic use in 2001, Dysport has steadily gained popularity around the world. With its approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, you too, may join others worldwide who have been treated with Dysport.

Botox®

Botulinum toxin injections (BTX) are often referred to by the product name Botox. Botox is a biological toxin that is transformed into a therapeutic agent. Botox has been used safely for decades.

Injections of Botox are used in the treatment of “crow’s feet”, forehead furrows, lines and wrinkles of the lower face, and “bunny lines” that appear at the bridge of the nose between the eyes. These injections target the specific muscle that contracts during facial expressions such as frowning or squinting. The technique is a simple injection placed directly into the muscle using a tiny needle. The results are usually dramatic and will reach full enhancement within two to three days.

Benefits:

No downtime. Patients can immediately resume normal activity.
Long experience is proven to be safe and to-date, no systemic complications have been associated with the injection.
Treatment is reversible within several months.
May be beneficial for the treatment of migraine headaches.

Other Considerations:

Botox injections are a temporary solution for the treatment of wrinkles. The effects last from 4-5 months and require repeat treatments to maintain the same affect.
Possible side effects include local numbness, swelling, bruising, or a burning sensation during the injection. These are of short duration.
A small percentage of patients are reported to experience no improvement at all.

Xeomin®

Xeomin is a prescription medication approved by the US FDA for the treatment of adults with moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows. It is injected into the muscle to temporarily relax and smooth the muscle, in turn, improving the appearance of frown lines between the eyebrows.

The effects of Xeomin occur within one week, and the results last from three to six months, making it comparable to Botox in terms of both onset and duration. Xeomin should not be used interchangeably with other botulinum products.
